Rhode Island, despite being the smallest state, offers deer hunting opportunities in its forests and suburban areas, and waterfowl hunting in coastal salt marshes. Turkey hunting is also available in parts of the state.
Saltwater fishing is a big draw in the “Ocean State,” where striped bass, bluefish, and fluke patrol the inshore waters. Offshore excursions can target tuna, sharks, and other pelagic species. Inland freshwater fishing includes trout-stocked ponds and bass in local lakes. Rhode Island’s outdoor pursuits also include sailing, kayaking Narragansett Bay, and enjoying coastal bike paths.
